The WRMS girl’s basketball season tipped off at the end of October. There are 7th and 8th-grade teams, and each team is split into A and B teams. The teams practice and travel together.

Coach Mills is the 8th-grade girls’ head coach and is in his second year at WRMS. He has coached other teams and has lots of experience. “Coaching requires finding ways to manage your time,” Mills said. “Luckily, our teams here are like another family.”

Addie Henderson, an 8th-grade player, agrees with Mills. Henderson said her favorite thing about basketball is “being on a team with all the girls and being like a family.” Alana Mitchell, also on the 8th-grade team, said “I’ve been playing basketball since first grade. I love to play.” June Ennis is on the 7th-grade team. She joined because she wanted to do an active sport. What she loves most about basketball is “hanging out with people I like.”

Seventh-grade basketball manager Vincent Henderson loves being involved. “Basketball is my favorite sport and I can learn about the drills when I play.” Henderson’s love for basketball started with “watching KU play Basketball with my mom and dad.”

The girl’s basketball season ends around December 10th so be sure to catch them in action before then!
