The Beat Goes On….Tour!
Every year the 7th-grade music departments go to the district elementary schools to perform and show off their music skills. The band went to Pauline South and Indian Hills. Before the performance, 7th grader, Lexi Hunt said, “I’m looking forward to seeing little children’s faces.” This is Mrs. Lambotte’s second year doing this, “As the middle school band director, this is only my second year. However, I am pretty sure this tour has been around for at least a decade or two.” See their next concert on Dec. 14.
The Silver Choir (A-Day) went to Auburn and the Blue Choir (B-Day) went to Jay Shideler and sang, “Sidewalks of New York”, “Memories”, “I Wish You Music”, and “We Sing Gloria”. Although not every kid who goes to the elementary schools specifically went to that school the ones who did were acknowledged and raised their hands when asked if they went to that school. 7th grader El Conran said what she was personally looking forward to in the trip was “Getting the opportunity to show younger kids that choir is a big deal and takes talent and practice to do.”
The orchestra went to Farley and Wanamaker. The songs they played were, “The Grasshopper Ball”, “Regal precession”, “Fancy Fiddles”, and, “Mystic Caravan”. 8th grader Enzo Cabrilo went with the orchestra because of the lack of bass players. Cabrilo was happy to help out, but he doesn’t think 8th graders should go on the trip, “Personally I do not think we should. We get to go to Six Flags and that’s enough.” Mrs. McLeland, the orchestra teacher said, “My favorite thing is how excited the kids get to go back to their old schools, play for them, and see their teachers.”
