On September 29th, the 8th grade boys pose for a photo with the trophy they won for winning the race for CML, which is their last cross county meet for the season.

Every year, the students on the cross country teams compete in an end-of-season meet called the Centennial Middle School League (CML.) On Friday, September 29th at Milford Lake, the 8th grade boys won. Washburn Rural placed 1st, Anthony placed 2nd, and Shawnee Heights placed 3rd. We asked one of the runners, Clayton Fink who he thought the toughest school to go against was, and he responded, “We didn’t really have that much competition, but probably Anthony.” The top 5 runners from our school were: Henry Laubach, Duke Graf, Clayton Fink, Tyler Jakle, and Ethan Koci. Not only did the boys win their final meet, but they have had many other fun moments together throughout the season. Duke Graf shared his favorite memory, “Probably when we were cheering on all the other runners at CML.” He also said he enjoyed getting to run around. When asked about her favorite part of coaching cross country, Coach Louderback said, “I really love watching our students grow as athletes and good people. It is rewarding to help develop an athlete to become the best they can be.” The team ended their season on a high note when they earned a trophy at the CML meet.
