It’s the end of December, the holidays are creeping toward us. Some students and their families are even planning holiday vacations.
Dylan Steverson, a 7th grader on All Stars plans on spending the holidays in the Dominican Republic Caribbean islands. His family makes vacations an annual tradition, “We go every year, and last year we went to Florida.”
Although a snowy Christmas at home in Kansas can be ideal, 8th grader Gabi Alvarez Chedzoy prefers to be away from home and with family somewhere different. “I don’t think in all of my 14 years I’ve spent a Christmas at home, and I don’t want that to change.” Alvarez Chedzoy plans on taking off to New York on the 21st for a wedding and on the 25th to Florida to spend time with family.
Although most people don’t plan on going on a Christmas vacation, 40.9% of the students who filled out a recent survey at WRMS plan on going on a Christmas vacation. Many people who do plan on going on a Christmas vacation are seeing their families that they don’t often get to see.
Overall, Christmas break is an amazing opportunity to spend time with your loved ones and enjoy the snowy weather. Even if you don’t plan on going anywhere you get to enjoy the comfort of sleeping in while cuddled up in your blanket.
