Braiden Joost, a 8th grade varsity tennis player serves in a tennis match on April 9th at the quad. Joost said, “I have been playing since 3 years old, and my dad wanted me to play.” He said his favorite memory is throwing tennis balls at people during tennis practice, and his favorite shot to do in a meet is an overhead.
Chloe Richard, a 7th grade track athlete lines up for the 100m. Richard is doing the 100m, 200m, and some relays this track season. Richard said, “I chose to do track to stay in shape for wrestling.”
On April 19th, the varsity track team gathers together before they start the meet at Seaman. The track coaches Roney and Louderback gave the team some encouraging advice. Roney said, “You’re getting ready to have a meet, so do your best and give it your all. Somebody wants to be in your spot, so do the best you can. It doesn’t matter what place you get, distance you run, throw, or how far you jump. Leave the meet knowing that you gave it your best.”
Connor Klausman, 7th grade JV tennis player gets ready to hit the tennis ball back at the quad on April 9th. Connor Klausman said, “Whenever the match starts I think about hitting the opponent’s weak spot and getting his shots in.” His favorite part in the season so far is playing with his doubles partner, Liam Wiksten.
Braxton Ullery, an 8th grade tennis player, has been playing tennis over the summer, and carried it through the year (3-4 months). He said, “My favorite memory when I hit my hardest severe, and I actually made it.” Ullery’s favorite shot to do at practice is a tweener.
Lucas Penrod, an 8th grade Varsity thrower for track and field is getting ready to throw the discus at Seaman on April 19th. Penrod said, “Hanging out with friends at a track meet was my favorite memory from the track meets.” He prefers throwing this year because running wasn’t for him last year.
