Washburn Rural Middle School has a partnership with Dialogue Coffee House to provide job training and life skills for students. Staff submits their orders on Mondays and on Wednesday mornings, the items they purchased are delivered by our very own WRMS students.
Founder of Dialogue Coffee House and Employment Services Director for Capper Foundation, Caitlyn Halsey, provides coaching to management teams that are helping individuals of all abilities succeed in the workplace. “The mission of Capper Foundation is to build abilities and empower people of all ages living with disabilities,” said Halsey.
You can find the Champions SFA Teacher Mrs. Beck often supporting the students in the Dialogue Coffee partnership by ordering a monster cookie and an iced coffee. “It is important for the students who participate to interact with adults. Dialogue is a great opportunity for them to do that, and so I want to support them in what they do,” said Mrs. Beck.
8th grader, Emma Gibson is a student who helps with the deliveries. One of the ways students benefit from this are, “Getting more confident while handing out deliveries,” said Emma Gibson.
Halsey loves that the staff at WRMS sought out a unique way to provide training to students. “As an alumna of Washburn Rural, it brings me joy to be able to support a partnership that benefits student growth as well as benefits the staff to have coffee and treats delivered to their classrooms,” said Halsey.
