Mrs. Turner is the new 8th grade champions science teacher. She has been working in the Auburn-Washburn district for a while and has spent the last few years in the athletic department at WRHS. She wishes she had known she would get back into teaching this year so she could have spent time in the summer getting prepared. Mrs. Turner says, “I like all the staff that I get to work with and love being around middle school kids again.”
Mrs. Beck is the new champion SFA teacher. Mrs Beck came to WRMS after teaching at Jay Shidler elementary, she made the switch because she needed a change in education. She loves the friendship between teachers and all of her students. Mrs Beck says “There wasn’t anything I wish I would have known before teaching SFA. I knew that because I would be teaching a new subject there would be learning curves along the way and I was up for that challenge.”
Coach Carson is the new PE teacher this year. Carson said, “I came to work at WRMS because this is my alma mater and I thought it was a great opportunity.” Carson loves being at WRMS because of the teachers she gets to meet, the fun students, and the resources we have.
Mr. Berry is the new HEAT science teacher. He chose to come to WRMS because his kids attended this school and because he knew it was a great school district. Berry said “I like how each grade is divided into teams.” Mr Berry is staying in the WRMS district for as long as he can.
Ms. Appelhanz is the new 8th grade WAVE ELA teacher. She used to teach both 6th and 7th reading intervention at Jardine Middle School. Appelhanz completed her student teaching at WRMS in 2011. She said “I really enjoyed my time when I was here. I always hoped I could return so when an opportunity came my way I decided to take it!” She enjoys working with her team and PLC to better serve the students and to be able to grow as a teacher.
