Behind or in the scenes the school play auditions are underway, but the actual production is far from done. That just shows how long it takes to assemble a school production. A lot of work, time, and money goes into assembling a production this size. But how does the cast put a production together in under four months?
Play director, Mrs. Speagle, said “The play can be stressful at times. It gets stressful towards the performance date because there are so many things that have to come together all at once. Checking those items of the “to do” list is helpful and reduces the stress. Also, it sometimes feels like the kids will ‘never’ remember all their lines. They always eventually do, but getting them to that point can be stressful.”
The school has been doing the theater program for 12 years (14 if you count COVID). The play is a commitment that is not for the faint of heart; you have to practice every day, sometimes on the weekends and over break. But the community is a tight-knit one. 8th grader Alex Lewis said, “I love the community and love how tight it is”. Of course, the cast isn’t the only people who need to be committed; the stage crew also needs to commit a lot of time to the production.
This year’s production is a play called “Here Come the Brides.”
