LeBron James, arguably the greatest player of all time (G.O.A.T.), is heading into the postseason with the Lakers and people are questioning his fame and whether he should retire. Although he is 40, he is scoring a respectable amount of points, for G.O.A.T. status. WRMS students and staff weighed in on James’s career and if he is really the G.O.A.T.
Eighth grader, Kemri Madden believes that Steph Curry is actually the G.O.A.T. “Just his mentality and he is really good at shooting.” One statistic that shows James is better than Curry, is his field goal percentage. LeBron James career field goal percentage is 50.6, while Steph Curry’s career field goal percentage is 47.1. Field goal percentage is your percentage of each shot you take.
Eighth grader, Leland Epling is a strong believer that LeBron is the G.O.A.T. “LeBron is the goat because he is super athletic at 40 years old and he can do everything and he scores the ball and he is so tough, no one can guard him for real.” Another statistic that represents that LeBron is the G.O.A.T. is that he is the career points leader in the NBA. LeBron James broke the career points record last season when he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabar at 38,387 points.
Seventh grade voyager teacher Ms. Henley asked her fourth hour about the debate.“We think Micheal Jordan is the G.O.A.T. not LeBron,” said Henley. One statistic from each career that sides with James is that LeBron passed Jordan in the scoring records with 1,300 less shots than Jordan.
One last opinion on the LeBron vs Jordan debate is given by an eighth grader, Jake Hermann. Hermann sides with LeBron being the G.O.A.T. “He is the best player in the whole wide world, he carries the team, he makes bums play good!”
After overlooking all the stats, we believe LeBron James is still the greatest of all time.
