The days of only having one middle school in the Auburn-Washburn district are coming to a close. As of August 2025, this district will have two middle schools. With this change, many of our beloved faculty members will be moving to the new middle school, and some will be staying.

Mrs. McDonald has been teaching at WRMS for 11 years now. This fall, she will be making a huge transition and moving her work to the new middle school. She says that one of the main reasons she made this decision is because of Dr. Stoltenberg. She said, “The number one reason I chose to leave WRMS is Dr. Stoltenberg. I loved working with him when he was our principal, and I would follow him anywhere.” McDonald also said she is ready for something new. “I am also looking forward to the change; after 11 years, I needed a refresh in my professional world,” she said.
One of the teachers that are staying is Mrs. Armstrong. She has been teaching here at WRMS for ten years as the art teacher. When asked if she was leaving, she said, “Heck no, I won’t go!” She also said she is glad about staying at WRMS, “I am happy that I’m staying because my children are slated to go to this school, and I live 4 minutes down the street. I will be excited to have my kids in the same building for three years.”

Another one of our teachers who will be moving to the new middle school is Mr. Wernimont. Mr. Wernimont has taught at WRMS for four years now. He thinks that moving schools will be sad yet happy. He said, “Part of me is really happy. It’s also very bittersweet leaving the building I started teaching in, because this is the only room I’ve ever taught professionally, so it’s going to be a little bit sad to leave it.” Even though it may be sad, he is still thinking of the positives. “I know that there are a lot of new opportunities at the new school.”
Although some of our teachers may be leaving, many students will remember the impact they have had on WRMS. With two schools next year, there will be double the opportunity for teachers to use their amazing abilities to inspire the new generation.
