If you could pick one teacher to win a 1v1 basketball tournament, who would you choose? Well, we put that to the test. 16 teachers were chosen to go head-to head in a hypothetical 1v1 basketball game. At least 1 teacher was selected from each team, including essentials. The best thing about this bracket was that it was student based, every single student could vote on the teacher they wanted to see move on!
The first round was the Sweet 16. The biggest blowouts were Coach C vs Mrs. Estenson with Coach C winning 71% of the votes, this was a big surprise to most people as Mrs. Estenson is a basketball player herself “I mean, Coach C is a great player and there’s no shame losing to him, but I definitely think we shouldn’t have been a first round match up!” On the other hand, we had a very close match, with Mr. Cook barely beating Mr. Short with only 51% of votes.
The second round was the Elite 8. This round had two big blow outs with Mrs. Louderback winning with 69.9% of votes against Mr. Nedeau, and Mr. Heinritz dominantly winning against Mr. Cook with 67.8% of votes. After the win, Mr. Heinritz said “I probably don’t deserve to be in the Final Four, I haven’t coached or played basketball in a while and I’m short.” Seventh grader Gracelyn Wagner had an unique way of voting. “I just picked my favorite teachers to win.”
The third round was the Final 4. In this highly anticipated match up, Mrs. Louderback ended up winning 64.5% to only 35.5% against Mr. Wernimont, and Coach C winning 62.1% of his votes to move on after beating Mr. Heinritz. Finalist Coach C said, “I am definitely a Cinderella story in this matchup. Louderback said, “Coach C is a beast and it is an honor to be considered highly in this tournament. “

The last round was the championship final between Coach C and Mrs. Louderback; This matchup was an absolute shootout. Before the poll dropped, finalist Mrs. Louderback already started campaigning “Honestly, Coach C would have won hand’s down if I had not promoted myself, so this is also a good lesson for students in terms of how voting works. Sometimes the quality candidate is pushed out due to recognition and popularity. It is important to read carefully and make informed decisions. Coach C in my eyes is a fantastic basketball player and it was an honor to be chosen in the final with him”. She was in the 7th and 8th grade halls shouting “Vote Louderback” After the final was released, it was a very close but enticing match up. The form had over 346 different voters, but the final winner was decided by only 10 votes, winning 51.5% to 48.5% Coach C wasn’t surprised with this result “I was not shocked that it was close. Losing to such a talented and influential person such as Louderback is humbling. So finally, the winner of teacher madness is Mrs. Louderback.
So that answers the question of if WRMS teachers got into a basketball 1v1 tournament, who would win? There were very many blow outs and some close games, but after all of that Mrs. Louderback came out on top. “Victory lap here I come,” she said.
