Update on the last of WRN construction

The football field at WRNMS on April 11. Current seventh grade principal, Mr. Chesmore will be moving to WRNMS this fall, and will be the athletics director. With the split, the sports programs will be affected, according to Chesmore.”It will provide many more opportunities for our students to participate. More students participating, competing and improving their skills should increase the success of our HS programs.”

The front of the sixth grade wing at WRNMS on April 11. Mrs. Emme a future Washburn Rural North teacher said her new team is currently working on their logo. “My 6th grade team that I’ll be teaching with at WRN this coming school year, decided on our new 6th grade team name, The Mavericks, and we are currently trying to create our team logo that will soon be on display for all to see at WRN. Go 6th Grade Mavs!”

A classroom in the eighth grade pod at WRNMS on April 11. Eighth Grade teacher Ms. Hundley, who is currently the HEAT SFA teacher, will be teaching ELA at WRN this fall. “Originally I wasn’t super excited about it , because I didn’t think SFA should be removed from being a core class, but now that I know more about how SFA is changing and how ELA is going to be, I’m getting very excited!”

The new choir room at WRNMS on April 11. Choir teacher Mr.Lambotte will be teaching at WRNMS this fall. The music program will be affected with the split, according to Mr.Lambotte, “I think it will give teachers more time to get to know the student body. I will be cutting my program in half but on a good side I get to see anyone who is in music every day.”

One of the sixth grade science rooms at WRNMS on April 11. Seventh grader Jacob Jensen will be attending WRN next year as an eighth grader. According to Jenson, the class splitting up will lead having less new people to meet. “It’s not gonna be as many people I’m going to be able to meet as much as with all of us in one building.”

The WRNMS cafeteria, which will also work as a concessions stand, at WRNMS on April 11. Seventh grader Lily Gross will be attending WRNMS next year for her eighth grade year. According to Lilly, she is most excited about being able to eat with her friends without the lunch table overcrowding, “I’m definitely excited, this might sound weird, but to eat like not in a lunchroom cause like I have a big friend group in general and so trying to find seats for everybody at a table is pretty hard.”

The gym at WRNMS on April 11. Dr.Stoltenberg will be the head principal at WRN this Fall. According to Dr.Stoltenberg, it will be easier to do school assemblies, “One of the things, this may seem silly, but one of the things at WRMS when we have over one thousand kids, we’re not able to hold all school assemblies because our bleachers only hold so many kids. The ability to be able to get our entire student body into one and do some kind of pep assemblies.”
