Have you ever been looking for a sports podcast that has students’ perspectives? Well Joaquin Diaz, Manuel Martinez, and Tyler Flesher have the podcast for you.

Flesher said that they started the podcast to talk about sports, “We started our podcast about a month ago because we wanted to just talk about sports,” he said. The podcast members are students and student athletes at WRMS, which makes it harder for them to post weekly. We asked Diaz what their podcast name is and why they made it that name. Diaz said, “Our podcast name is JMT Sports, It is named that because of our initials and the main topic.”
The podcast members told us that their goal is to reach 2,000 views on Spotify because that is when they will start making money. So far they have posted four episodes in a two month period which could be considered a good start for growth. Their podcast consists of three main members, but they also have Jace Jackson. Jackson said he is the current editor. “I am currently the editor and I am set up for the role of ‘Head of Finance,” he said.

The podcast is recorded at Martinez’s house. Diaz said that their podcast is about sports, “Our podcast mainly focuses on sports and the inner workings of Franchises,” he said. Their platforms are posted on Spotify, but Flesher said they are working to expand it to more sites, “Our podcast is on Spotify but we’re looking to expand it to Amazon Music and Apple Music,” he said.
In their four current episodes, the podcast members have hosted two guests; those guests include eighth graders Charlie Billings and Jace Jackson. Podcast host Martinez said, “We are making a guest list, but sadly I can not say who is on the guest list next, but if you listen to the podcast you will find out.”
The JMT Podcast members said, “We recommend this podcast to anyone that likes sports and wants a kid’s point of view.”
