8th grader Brynn Anderson excels on the court and in the classroom. She is a multi-sport athlete on the basketball, volleyball, and track teams while balancing her time with academics.
Anderson said that she manages her time well while being a multisport athlete, “ I make sure to use my advisory time well, take advantage of extra class time that I have, and get my homework done.” She also told us that she would only play basketball and volleyball once she reached high school to focus better on school.
WRMS teacher Mrs.Dowell says Anderson’s drive to do well makes her a great student leader. “Her drive to succeed makes her a wonderful group leader because she is willing to jump in, take control, and complete the task at a high level. “She shared with us her thoughts about Brynn’s mindset in school and sports, ” Hard work and determination paired with natural talent will take Brynn far, both inside the classroom and in sports.”
Anderson’s basketball coach, Coach C says that Anderson has many attributes that make her a special person, ”Brynn is a special player because she has the leadership skills, and the drive to be successful.” He also said that Brynn stood out at tryouts for many reasons,” Many players stood out at tryouts but what made Brynn stand out is that after the 1st day of tryouts, she asked to stay after to shoot free throws because she wasn’t happy with her score.”
As we know being an athlete is just about your success on the court, Anderson’s volleyball coach, Coach Henley says that Anderson encourages the team in many ways,” Brynn is incredibly talented but most importantly she is the type of teammate you want to have next to you on the court. She has a team-first attitude and always seeks ways to cheer on the team.”
With Anderson approaching the end of her athletic career in middle school, she looks to carry her momentum into high school using her basketball, volleyball, and leadership skills. Her hard work and time management will help her balance sports and grades as a student-athlete.
